Witnesses of our intimacies
This workshop derives from my research which aims to redefine home. Using a phenomenological approach, my personal experience, as well as art practices – and through the use of memory, imagination and somatic ways of knowing – it approaches home as an unstable and non-physical environment.
Through guided meditation and collective creation, an environment of remembrance is being constructed, which brings forward our intimacies and thus, spaces that were not meant to feel like home are being habitated. This is what speaks to its non-physical state. The charcoal as a material offers the fluidity of the notion of home and the collective drawing and sharing proves to be the way to “map” an unstable environment. The research goes hand-in-hand with the materials offering ways of carrying home with us and sheds light on the fact that home is within us, and we can find it and localize it in the spaces we habitate.
This workshop was first practiced in ClubLokaal (2026), in Breda, The Netherlands, as part of my graduation project.
